Trent K. English
|
Mr. English concentrates his practice in patent law with a particular emphasis in mechanical and medical device technologies. He specializes in helping clients bring their innovative products to market. His work includes filing patent applications, conducting prior art investigations, assisting clients with design-around efforts, patent reexamination and patent litigation. Mr. English protects inventions in the United States and abroad.
He received a B.S. in Civil Engineering in 1996 and a M.S. in Environmental Engineering in 1997, both from Michigan State University. Prior to entering the legal field, he was a consulting engineer at Triad Engineering and at Lawson-Fisher Associates, both in South Bend, Indiana. There he focused his attention on designing and analyzing water and wastewater transfer systems. Mr. English also assisted clients with regulatory compliance issues associated with the Clean Water Act and in the bidding process for municipal construction projects.
Mr. English was a full-time intern in Howard & Howard's intellectual property law internship program from July 2000 to May of 2004. He received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Michigan State University College of Law in May 2004.

- 33rd Annual Dr. Joseph Rossman Memorial Award, October 2005, as co-author of the article in the Journal of the Patent and Trademark Office Society “that made the greatest contribution to the field of Patents, Trademarks and Copyrights.”
